Unpack it with your favorite commands, for example: user@earth:~/tar -xvzf OpenUrl.0.0.15.tar.gz Now, you should have a OpenUrl directory in your Targetdirectory in our example is this your home directory Run the autogen.sh shell script to configure this tool , this will check for the libraries needed by OpenUrl Note the autogen.sh script musst run correctly with no error messages Now type make to compile No Need to install this tool is comming without install The binaries are now located under this directory "your target directory"/OpenUrl.0.0.??/src/ You can start the tool from there or you can move it or make a link to /usr/local/bin (for this you must have root permission)
Per Default Netscape is comming with "alt+o"-keybinding to start his own Openurl Dialog. You have simply to bind this keys with the new tool you have installed.
